IPTV on Amazon Firestick
What you need
- An Amazon Firestick or Fire TV connected to the internet
- Your Mom IPTV playlist address or Xtream Codes login details
- About fifteen minutes
Step 1 — Allow apps from unknown sources
From the Fire TV home screen, open Settings, then My Fire TV, then Developer Options. Turn on Install Unknown Apps, and allow it for Downloader once Downloader is installed.
If Developer Options is not visible, open Settings, My Fire TV, About, and select the device name several times until the option appears.
Step 2 — Install Downloader
Search the Amazon Appstore for Downloader and install it. It is a free app published by AFTVnews, and it is what fetches the player's installer file.
Step 3 — Install your IPTV player
Open Downloader, enter the download address for the player you have been told to use, and let it download. When the download finishes, choose Install, then Done, then Delete to remove the installer file and free up space.
Ask support for the current download address rather than typing one you found elsewhere — side-loading from an unknown source is the main way these devices pick up unwanted software.
Step 4 — Enter your details
Open the player and add a new playlist or profile. Choose M3U or Xtream Codes to match the details you were sent, then type them in exactly, including capitals.
The first load takes a few minutes while the channel list and programme guide download.
Common Firestick problems
- The player will not install — Install Unknown Apps is probably still off for Downloader specifically, rather than in general.
- Everything is slow — Firesticks have limited storage. Delete installer files and apps you do not use, then restart.
- Buffering on one channel only — that is the source, not the stick. Note the channel and the time and send it to support.
- Buffering on everything — try moving the stick away from the back of the television, where metal and other electronics interfere with Wi-Fi, or use an Ethernet adapter.
