What to expect

tvOS only installs apps from the App Store, so you are limited to the IPTV players Apple has approved. Several are available and they accept the same M3U or Xtream Codes details as players on any other platform.

Ask support which player is currently recommended for Apple TV before you start — App Store availability changes more often here than elsewhere.

Step 1 — Install a player

Open the App Store on the Apple TV, search for the recommended IPTV player, and install it.

Step 2 — Enter your details

Open the player and add your playlist address or Xtream Codes login. The Apple TV Remote app on an iPhone makes typing a long address considerably faster than the on-screen keyboard.

Let the first channel list and guide download finish before judging anything.

• Apple TV hardware is capable, so stuttering is more likely to be the connection than the device.
• The Ethernet port on the Apple TV 4K is worth using if the box sits near the router.
• If a player is withdrawn from the App Store, your subscription is unaffected — install another player and enter the same details.
